Former England captain John Morgan has praised Gujarat Titans’ fast bowler Prasidh Krishna for his outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Prasidh has emerged as one of the standout performers in IPL 2025, currently holding the prestigious Purple Cap with 16 wickets to his name. Representing  Titans, Prasidh has delivered consistently with the ball, showcasing raw pace, accuracy, and a growing maturity in handling pressure-filled match scenarios. .

Former England World Cup-winning captain Morgan recently lauded Prasidh’s performances, highlighting how valuable he has become not just for his IPL franchise, but also as a rising star for the Indian national team. Morgan emphasized how rare and invaluable it is for a captain to have a seamer who can dominate the middle overs, a role Krishna has mastered in this tournament.

“He’s the Purple Cap holder at the moment, and his rhythm just keeps getting better. We know he has that extra bit of pace to work with, but you have to admire the strength he brings during the middle phase of the game. As a captain, having a seamer who can make that kind of impact in the middle overs is absolutely priceless. He now finds himself with the most wickets in this year’s tournament—by some margin, actually, by four. It’s great to see him growing as a player, evolving across formats, and now being rewarded with national honours as well,” Morgan said on Jio Hotstar.

Prasidh’s resurgence: One of the standout stories of IPL

Prasidh’s crucial spell of 2/25 against his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders recently helped GT to register their 6th win of the season. In a good looking deck GT made a total 0f 198 runs with the loss of 3 wickets. In response, KKR managed to score only 159 runs, well-short from the target. Prasidh along with Afghani Leg-spinner Rashid khan were pick of the bowlers with 2-wickets each. The efforts helped GT in a thumping win by 39 runs and helped their side to move on top of the points table. At present, GT leading the points table with 12 points to their name.

Prasidh’s resurgence has been one of the standout stories of IPL 2025. After being sidelined for two consecutive IPL seasons, his return has been nothing short of inspiring.

• In 2023, Prasidh suffered a lumbar stress fracture, which ruled him out of the tournament entirely.
• In 2024, a quadriceps injury again halted his comeback.
• His last T20I before this season was against Australia in 2023, where he had a night to forget, conceding 68 runs in 4 overs.

Despite setbacks, Prasidh’s determination never wavered. Ahead of IPL 2025, he was picked by Titans for INR 9.5 crore, a decision that raised eyebrows at the time. However, the move has paid off spectacularly, with Prasidh now holding the Purple Cap and playing a pivotal role in GT’s success this season.
