Ishan Kishan, Mendis Knocks Helped Hyderabad to Secure 5-Wicket Win Over Super Kings

The middle-order batters Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis knock in the IPL 2025 game played between Hyderabad and Chennai on April 25 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

Ishan Kishan‘s knock of 44 runs off 34 deliveries included 5 fours and 1 six, and Kamindu Mendis’ score of 32 runs off 22 deliveries has helped the side to secure their first win at Chepauk and also helped them to climb a spot in the IPL 2025 Points table.

Batting first, Shaik Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre opened the innings while Shami opened the bowling attack.

However, Rasheed was sent out on a duck in the first over of the innings.

Sam Curran, who joined Mhatre, went out for 9 runs with CSK struggling with 39 runs. Cummins dismissed Ayush Mhatre for 30 runs in the last over of the powerplay, which made CSK lose 3 wickets in the powerplay.

Jadeja and Dewald Brevis joined hands in the innings where the former sent out by Mendis for 21 runs. Shivam Dube and Brevis literally powered up the innings with Brevis smashing four sixes.

Harshal Patel bagged the wicket of Dewald Brevis for 42 with CSK struggling losing five wickets for 114 runs.

Dube went on to lose his wicket to Jaydev Unadkat while Harshal Patel dismissed MS Dhoni for 6 runs. Cummins and Harshal Patel went on to pick the wickets of Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad for 2 runs each respectively.

Hooda played a crucial role in helping the side to cross 150 run mark with Khaleel Ahmed on the other side. Finally with the dismissal of Hooda, Chennai Super Kings scored 154 runs losing all 10 wickets in the game.

Chasing the target of 155 runs, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head opened the innings while Khaleel Ahmed opened the bowling attack.

Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket for duck while Anshul Kamboj picked the wicket of Travis Head for 19 runs. By the end of power play, Hyderabad scored only 37 runs.

With Heinrich Klaasen dismissed for 7 runs by Jadeja, Aniket Verma lost his wicket for 19 runs with Hyderabad struggling for 106 runs.

However, Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy took charge over and completed their run chase. Mendis scored unbeaten 32 runs while Nitish Reddy scored 19 runs with 8 balls to spare.
