Mumbai Indians have suffered a big setback as spinner Vignesh Puthur has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2025. He is down with bone stress reactions in both shins.
He has replaced by Punjab leg-spinner Raghu Sharma, who is a member of Mumbai’s supporting bowling group. In his first-class career, Raghu has taken five five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket hauls in 11 first-class matches, nine List A games, and three T20 matches for Punjab and Pondicherry. He picked up 14 wickets in eight games during the 2024–25 Vijay Hazare Trophy and finished as his team’s second-highest wicket-taker, behind Arshdeep Singh.
The leg-spinner from Jalandhar will join Mumbai for his INR 30 lakh.
Vignesh took six wickets in five games for Mumbai, including a memorable three-wicket haul against Chennai Super Kings.
According to the franchise’s statement, Vignesh will stay with the team for his recovery and rehabilitation.
After a poor start, Mumbai have won six matches, including five in a row. Mumbai Indians will now face Rajasthan Royals on May 01.
