Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has suffered a major setback to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2025. Captain Shreyas Iyer told during the toss on Wednesday that star all -rounder Glenn Maxwell has fractured in his finger. Now he will probably not be able to play the rest of this season. PBKS coach Ricky Ponting has spoken openly on this and told who will be his replacement.
Shreyas Iyer said, “It is very unfortunate that his finger has been fractured. We have not yet decided about his replacement. But, our team's mindset is strong. We have players outside the playing XI also have players who can win matches. We will trust him.”
'It is difficult to find replacement due to PSL 2025'
Punjab Kings coach Ricky Ponting said that the team is currently working on replacement. Earlier in April, Punjab also suffered a loss due to licking fanguson injury. Even his replacement has not come so far.
Ponting said, “We are waiting for the right time. We have many good players in the squad. There are also players like Ajmatullah Umarzai, Aaron Hardy and Javier Bartlets who have not played yet. When we go to Dharamshala, Bartlet can get a chance according to the pitch and conditions there.”
He also informed that due to the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in Pakistan, it is becoming difficult to find foreign replacement.
The Australian veteran said, “It has been a few days since Maxwell hurt. It has been two-three weeks since Ferguson. But, at this time PSL (IPL) is not available more quality than being simultaneously. We are keeping an eye on Indian players. Is.”
Punjab has almost a week to choose a replacement. His next 11th match is against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 4 May. While the 12th match will be held on 8 May with Delhi Capitals (DC). Both matches will be played in Dharamshala.
