Delhi: Ravi Shastri, former India cricketer and head coach, believes that young batsman Sai Sudarshan has all the qualities that can make him a part of the Indian team for the Test series against England. The five-match series will be played between June and August, which will also begin the start of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. Ravi Shastri described Sai's county cricket experience and his strong batting technique as important for his selection.
Sudarshan is currently in great form in IPL 2025. Playing for Gujarat Titans (GT), he has scored 456 runs in 9 matches. Apart from this, he has also performed well in the shadow tour continuously with the India 'A' team. The 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy was discussed that Shubman Gill was included in the team when he was injured in the first Test, but then the selectors gave a chance to Devdutt Padikkal.
Sai has also performed well while playing for England's domestic county team Surrey. He scored 281 runs in a total of five matches with a century and a half -century, showing that he is ready to play on England's pitches.
Sai Sudarshan, who has entered 2022 in first class cricket for the first time, has done well in domestic cricket. Playing for Tamil Nadu in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, he scored 304 runs in just three matches, including a brilliant double century against Delhi.
Not only batting, Ravi Shastri also made an important suggestion in the bowling department. He said that the team must have a left-arrow fast bowler, who can diversify the circumstances of England. He named Arshdeep Singh in front, who has played for Kent in county cricket.
Ravi Shastri also said that there should not be only a test experience for the left-arms option, if a white ball expert is doing well then he should also be given a chance. He also took the name of Khalil Ahmed and said that his rhythm is good and he is currently bowling well.
India last won the Test series in England in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. The series played between India and England in the last tour ended at a par at 2-2. Now with the start of the new World Test Championship cycle, Team India will once again try to create history in England.
