Harbhajan Singh slammed Sunrisers Hyderabad for their Maldives outing in the middle of the Indian Premier League 2025. After winning their match against Chennai Super Kings on April 25, the SRH players and the support staff left for the Maldives to rejuvenate themselves ahead of the remaining five games. Their move was slammed by fans, considering their performance in the 18th season of the tournament.
With just three wins from nine matches, Sunrisers will have to win all the contests to make it to the playoffs. A loss would eliminate them from the race. Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss against Gujarat Titans and invited the hosts to bat first. Shubman Gill’s team posted 224/6 with the captain (76), Jos Buttler (64), and Sai Sudharsan (48) leading the batting charts.
Bhajji commented on the importance of practice sessions. “If I were part of the team management, I would have given importance to what we have assembled for two months. Cricket was more important than the Maldives,” he said.
“You need practice and not a break when your season is on the edge. I agree that players need a break, but they could have taken it by staying in India. They needed net sessions to stay in touch with the game,” he added.
