Rishabh Pant‘s poor form with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2025 has raised concerns among cricket experts. India legend Virender Sehwag told the southpaw to contact MS Dhoni to end his struggles. He speculated that Pant is missing the presence of Team India teammates in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad.

Pant, who was bought for a record INR 27 crore at the mega auction in Jeddah last year, was dismissed for 18 runs off 17 balls in Lucknow’s 37-run defeat to Punjab Kings in Dharamshala on Sunday. With a total of 128 runs from 11 innings at a strike rate of 99.22, he has registered his worst performance in an IPL season since making debut in 2016.

In an interview with Cricbuzz, Sehwag suggested that Pant should watch his videos to regain his confidence. He pointed out that even a small change in technique can have a significant impact on one’s ability to score runs.

“I believe Rishabh Pant should revisit some of his past IPL performances when he was in good form, as it could help rebuild his confidence. “Often, we lose sight of our routines, and this Pant seems different from the one we saw before his injury. I was struggling to score runs in 2006/07 and was dropped from the Indian team. Rahul Dravid suggested me to revisit my exceptional performances from the past. Small change in your routine could have a big impact on your ability to score runs,” he said.

Sehwag also urged Pant to reach out to Dhoni for a conversation. “Also, he needs to pick up his mobile and talk to someone. If he’s feeling down or negative, there are plenty of cricketers he could reach out to. Since Dhoni is his role model, he should give him a call. It could help him,” he added.
