Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) veteran batsman Virat Kohli recently gave the reason behind leaving the captaincy in a podcast in 2021. He said these things in a podcast episode on RCB's YouTube channel.

Kohli started his international career in 2008 and he has been associated with this franchise since then. However, the team has not won a single trophy yet. Virat is the highest run -scorer in the IPL so far, who has scored 8,933 runs in 278 matches, with his average of 39.52. He has scored 8 centuries and 64 half -centuries.

Regarding staying connected with the team for so long, Virat said that he got many opportunities to join other teams in 2016 to 2019, but he did not leave the team due to the relationship with RCNI and mutual honor. He also said that the love he has received from the fans is above anything.

Virat said, “I have said this before, I had a chance to think about playing in other teams, especially between my career peak time 2016 and 2019. I used to get constant suggestions that change the team, go here, go there, but I did not leave RCB, because a relationship and mutual honor with this team.”

He further said about leaving his captaincy, “I always thought of one thing, what should I do now? Stay under that pressure all the time, it was very difficult to face all that. After all, when it was too much, I decided to leave the captaincy. I felt that if I have to stay in this team, I have to be happy. I want to be happy. I want a place where I can play, what will be done, without thinking, what will you do?”

He further explained that he thought of joining another team, but in the end he asked himself whether it is more important to go to a new franchise and adjust himself, or stay with the team where he has earned a strong relationship and respect for years.

He said fire, “And now I have decided that I will stay with this team till the end. We win or not, it doesn't matter. This is my moment, the love that I have got from the fans is more than any trophy, because that love gives a feeling that does not get from any victory, which can forget that the next day. But, this love will be together.”
