Mohammed Shami News: The Allahabad High Court will on Tuesday hear a petition filed against cricketer Mohammed Shami's sister Shabina, brother-in-law Gajnabi, and other family members who were found registered as MNREGA labourers in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha.
The MGNREGA social welfare scheme aims to guarantee the 'right to work'. The government advocate had sought a three-day extension to file a counter-affidavit earlier.
Following irregularities in MNREGA, an FIR was registered on 3 March on the instructions of DM Amroha Nidhi Gupta Vats. Zoya Block BDO Lokchand had filed the FIR against the then Gram Panchayat Officer Prithvi Singh, Anjum, Huma, Parveen, accountant Vijendra Singh, MNREGA computer operator Sharafat Ali, technical assistant Ajay Nimesh, then APO Brijbhushan Singh, and retired Gram Rozgar Sevak Jhamman Singh. All the named accused are charged with breach of trust. Following this, the DM also suspended all the employees.
Allegations Against Shami's Sister And Brother-In-Law
Panchayat Secretaries Huma Parveen, Anjum and Prithvi Singh, who have been named as accused in this case, have filed a petition seeking the cancellation of the FIR. Mohammed Shami's sister Shabina is married in Paloula village in the Zoya block area. Shabina's mother-in-law Ayesha Gul is the village head.
It is alleged that government funds were embezzled by showing Shabina, her brother-in-law and four relatives as MNREGA labourers. They had received wages of ₹2.66 lakh over the past four years. Their job cards were cancelled in August last year. Due to the high-profile nature of this incident, the central government has also taken cognisance of the matter.s
