Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans secured a 3-wicket victory in the IPL 2025 game against Mumbai Indians on May 06 at Wankhede Stadium.
They completed a chase of 147 (DLS par score) in the rain-interrupted 19-over game. By this win, Gujarat Titans went on to climb to the top position of the IPL 2025 points table.
Batting first, Mumbai posted a total of 155/8 in their 20-over innings on Tuesday’s clash.
Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma went on to open their innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack.
Siraj went on to dismiss youngster Rickelton for 2 runs while Rohit Sharma was sent out for 7 runs in the fourth over. However, Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav went on to anchor the innings, making a 71-run partnership for the third wicket.
SKY went on to score 35 runs off 24 deliveries before being dismissed by Sai Kishore. Meanwhile, Will Jacks went on to slam his fifty before being dismissed by Rashid Khan.
With Will Jacks dismissal, Mumbai lost four wickets for 103 runs in the 12th over. Sai Kishore went on to bag the wicket of Hardik Pandya for 1 runs in the 13th over completing his four over spell.
In the very next over, Gerald Coetzee bagged the wicket of Tilak Varma for 7 runs leaving Mumbai to struggle with 113/6. With Naman Dhir dismissed for 7 runs, Corbin Bosch went on to score 27 before being dismissed on run out.
By the end of 20 over, Mumbai scored 155/8 runs in their 20 over innings.
In the pursuit of chasing the target, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan went on to open the attack while Deepak Chahar opened the bowling attack.
The consistent Sai Sudharsan went on to get dismissed for 5 runs by Boult in the 2nd over. With Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill on the crease, Gujarat went on to scored 29 runs in the powerplay.
Ashwani Kumar went on to dismiss Buttler for 30 runs before the rain interrupted the game.
With the game resumed, Gujarat went on to lose wickets of well settled Shubman Gill and Sherfane Rutherford for 43 and 28 respectively.
They also lost the wickets of Shahrukh Khan and Rashid Khan for 6 and 2 which turned the table against Gujarat Titans losing momentum with 132 runs for 6 wickets by the end of 18th over.
However, the rain started pouring once again and and Gujarat are five runs behind DLS par score.
With the match is set to be played on 19 over game, with 147 run target, Gujarat Titans needed 15 runs in a over.
Deepak Chahar bowled the final over where Tewatia went on to hit a boundary. Gerald Coetzee went on to hit a six before being dismissed.
With one run needed in the last delivery, Arshad Khan went on to hit a single to complete the run chase on a high thrill encounter at Wankhede.
