Bcci: After the conclusion of the IPL, Team India has to visit England immediately where the five -match Test series is to be played. Before this series, Rohit Sharma, the regular captain of Team India, has announced his retirement from the Test format, after which it is now the biggest topic that who will be the captain of India on this tour.
The BCCI has made it clear that the name will not be Jaspreet Bumrah but of a player who is fully ready to fulfill this responsibility.
No one can deny that Jasprit Bumrah is an important player of Team India, who has the ability to show strong game in all three formats, but also worries the records of his injury. He suffered a back injury in the Sydney Test, due to which he had to stay away from the game for 3 months and he was also out of the Champions Trophy.
This is the reason that by putting the responsibility of captaincy on them, there is no management in the mood to increase their work load at all. The management is looking for a player who is available for all five Test matches, which is clear that Bumrah will not be able to play five matches as BCCI does not want to appoint different captains and vice-captains for different sports.
At this time, if the BCCI has the most confidence in a player, then he is Shubman Gill who can play the role of captain on the tour of England. In the IPL, this player has the experience of captaining Gujarat Titans and has also been the vice -captain in the Champions Trophy who has the ability to represent India for many years. This is the reason that this player can be launched in an important role on the tour of England.
