The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday was abandoned due to significant technical failure.

The game was interrupted after three floodlight towers went off during the 11th over of the second innings. After a brief break, the match was eventually called off.

“The match has been called off,” IPL Governing Council chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed to Sportstar.

The development comes amid escalating military tension between India and Pakistan. Reports of drone attacks in Jammu emerged on social media during the match on Thursday evening.

Earlier on Thursday, the tournament had announced that the match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians on May 11 will be moved from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad.

India, on Wednesday, hit nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), 15 days after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that left 26 civilians dead. The targeted sites included Bahawalpur, a known Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) stronghold, and Muridke, the base of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), among others.

A day later, the Ministry of Defence said that Pakistan’s military attempted to strike back, aiming at military targets in Northern and Western India — specifically Adampur, Bhatinda, and Chandigarh. The Indian defence establishment stated that these attempts were foiled.
