Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took an important decision on 9 May. In view of the tension between India and Pakistan, the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) was suspended for a week. But, now when the tournament starts again, the remaining matches may be held in new cities.
Which cities can be IPL?
According to the Times of India report, the BCCI is now planning to have the remaining IPL matches in only four cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. The board is constantly monitoring the situation and further decision will be taken only if the situation is normal.
Why was the match stopped in Dharamshala?
On May 8, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was going on in Dharamshala. The Punjab team was batting and the game was only 10.1 overs. Then the match was stopped due to security reasons. According to the information, attacks were being tried by Pakistan at that time. For this reason, the BCCI immediately canceled the match, giving priority to the safety of all and the audience was also safely taken out.
Player Vande returned to Delhi from India
After the cancellation of the match, the players, support staff and the rest of the team were brought to Delhi by special Vande Bharat train. On the night of 9 May, everyone reached New Delhi safely. The BCCI has clearly stated that the safety of the players is the biggest responsibility for it.
