IPL 2025 to resume on May 17, final on June 3; here’s full schedule

IPL 2025, which was suspended for one week due to India-Pakistan tensions and ‘Operation Sindoor’, will resume on Saturday (May 17) with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) facing defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru, the BCCI said on Monday night (May 12).

The final will be played on June 3, Tuesday.

PBKS vs DC rematch

On May 8, the game between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off midway in the first innings.

Now, the match will be replayed on May 24 in Jaipur.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025. After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season,” BCCI said in a media release.

“A total of 17 matches will be played across 6 venues (Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai), starting May 17, 2025, and culminating in the final on June 3, 2025. The revised schedule includes two double-headers, which will be played on two Sundays,” it added.

Playoffs from May 29

The playoffs will be played on May 29, May 30, June 1, and the final on June 3. Venue details for the playoff matches will be announced at a later stage, the Indian cricket board said.

The BCCI saluted the bravery and resilience of the Indian armed forces. “The BCCI takes this opportunity to once again salute the bravery and resilience of India’s armed forces, whose efforts have enabled the safe return of cricket. The Board reaffirms its commitment to national interest while ensuring the successful completion of the league.”

The league phase will end on May 27, and there will be a rest day on May 28.

Originally, IPL 2025 was to concluded on May 25, Sunday.
