Rohit Sharma RETURNS On Field For First Time Since Announcing Shock Test Retirement

Rohit Sharma shocked the world when he announced that he was going to retire from Test cricket on May7 in the middle of an IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

He also said that he would only play for India in the ODI format. Although India's next ODI series is till quite some time away, the Indian captain has already returned to the field just days after his retirement. As the IPL 2025 is set to restart after a week of being suspended due to tensions between India and Pakistan, Rohit Sharma was seen sweating it out in Mumbai, as he prepared to play for the Mumbai Indians (MI).

The franchise shared the images of Rohit's return to the field on its social media accounts.

Can Mumbai Indians Qualify For IPL 2025 Playoffs

Mumbai Indians currently have 14 points from 12 games. They lost four out of their first five matches, as they had a horror start to the IPL 2025. However, they came back in strong fashion as they won the next 6 games of the tournament on the trot. However, they lost their last match against Gujarat Titans.

In order to ensure qualification, they need to win at least one of their two matches.They will play Delhi Capitals on May 21 (Wednesday) and against Punjab Kings on May 26 (Monday).

IPL 2025 Set To Resume On May 17

The IPL 2025 is all set to restart after being suspended for a week on Saturday (May 17) with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The final has been rescheduled to June 3 (Tuesday). A total of six venues have been selected for the remaining group stages. They are Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Bengaluru.

The venue of the playoffs and final have not been announced yet.
