Delhi: After the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, there is a possibility of major changes in the Indian Test team. Meanwhile, former legendary leg -spinner Anil Kumble has described Karun Nair as a suitable option of middle order for the upcoming Test series against England.

Nair performed brilliantly for Vidarbha in the last domestic season. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 779 runs in only 8 innings and scored 5 centuries, including four consecutive centuries. At the same time, the right -handed batter played an important role in winning a title victory to Vidarbha due to a half -century and a century against Kerala in the final of the Ranji Trophy. Karun scored 863 runs throughout the season.

The position of number-4 batting order in Tests is not clear for Team India. It has become a challenging role after Kohli moved away from this place. Talking about the fourth number, Anil Kumble told Espncricinfo, “I don’t think anyone seriously thought who would bat at number 4. Based on the way Karun performed in domestic cricket, he could be the best option for this role.”

Kumble also mentioned that Karun Nair has experience playing in England and has also played county cricket, which has a good understanding of the circumstances there. The former leg spinner said, “Even though Karun is beyond 30, he is still young. At this time you need a player who also has restraint with experience.”

Significantly, Karun Nair last played a Test match for India in 2017. He scored a triple century (303*) against England in Chennai, but despite this his career was limited to only 6 Test matches.
