The cricketing world can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to resume on Saturday, May 17, following an unprecedented week-long suspension. The tournament, which had seen high-profile teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK)Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) already eliminated from contention, was abruptly halted on May 8.
IPL 2025 set to resume after one week suspension
The suspension came after a dramatic incident during Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) clash in Dharamshala. Air raid sirens blared and the stadium was plunged into a blackout, a stark reminder of escalating tensions near the India-Pakistan border. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) swiftly announced a one-week pause to the league on May 9, prioritizing national security and the safety of all involved.
After extensive consultations and a comprehensive assessment of the situation, the BCCI has now released a revised schedule for the final 17 matches. Cricket enthusiasts can mark their calendars as the group stage matches will conclude on May 27, while the much-anticipated IPL final is now slated for June 3.
