Travis Head set to miss SRH’s IPL 2025 fixture against LSG after contracting COVID-19

With the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) resuming after a 10-day break, in match number 61, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will host the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, May 19. However, the Rishabh Pant-led side will be hoping to get a win in order to keep their place for the playoffs alive, SRH will be hoping to spoil the hosts party.

However, ahead of the crucial fixture, the Pat Cummins-led SRH have been handed a massive setback as they are set to miss the services of Travis Head. Speaking on the eve of the match, SRH head coach Daniel Vettori confirmed on this development, while adding that Head will join the side on Monday.

Addressing the media, the former New Zealand cricketer confirmed that Head's arrival was delayed as he had contracted COVID-19. He further added that the Aussie batter will join the side on Monday, however, his participation remains doubtful. "Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn't travel, so he'll get in tomorrow morning and we'll assess how he is after that," Vettori said at the press conference.

Speaking of Head, the Aussie was retained by the franchise for a sum of INR 14 Crore. Despite bagging a hefty sum, Head has only amassed 281 runs from 10 ten innings at an average of 28.10 and a strike rate of 156.11.

His highest score of 67 came in SRH's campaign opener against Rajasthan Royals.
