Former India player Ajay Jadeja said that Sai Sudharsan is a better batsman than Shubman Gill at the moment. He commented after the southpaw scored a hundred against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2025. His second IPL hundred and a 205-run partnership with Gill took Gujarat Titans to the playoffs in the ongoing 18th season of the tournament. The 25-year-old batter amassed 93 not out in the away match. Sai (617) and Gill (601) are the two leading run-scorers in this year’s edition of the cash-rich league.

Their opening stand has played a key role in the Titans’ 9 victories out of 12 games. Sudharsan has played proper cricketing shots, and the young batter doesn’t believe in taking risks, unlike his skipper, Shubman.

“Sai Sudharsan has outshone the future India captain. His batting is pleasing to the eye. It is not like he was only ahead of Shubman in the match against Delhi Capitals. He has looked a better batter than Gill in the previous matches as well. His batting is risk-free as compared to Shubman’s. Sai is playing with a more accomplished cricketer, who plays regularly for the Indian cricket team,” Ajay Jadeja said on Star Sports.

“Gill was not able to time the ball against Delhi and needed powerful hits to get going but it was not the case with Sai, who looked at ease,” he added.

“Sai Sudharsan is More Powerful Than Shubman Gill”: Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif agreed with Ajay Jadeja and kept Sai Sudharsan ahead of Shubman Gill. The legendary fielder is impressed with the batting style of the Tamil Nadu-based cricketer. “Sai is more powerful than Gill. He plays on merit and doesn’t look at the scorecard,” Kaif said.

“Sai watches the bowler before hitting shots, and he doesn’t play reckless strokes. He can score runs in any part of the ground. No one knows his weakness and how to get him out,” he added.
