Delhi: On Saturday, Indian cricket selectors announced the team for a series of upcoming five Test matches against England. In this, Shubman Gill was appointed as the new Test captain. It should be said that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have said goodbye to Test cricket. In such a situation, with Gill becoming captain, India has entered the new era of Tests.
The most important comeback in this team is Karun Nair, who played for India for the last time during the domestic series against Australia in March 2017.
Karun has been rewarded for his great performance in domestic cricket. He played an important role in winning the title as Vidarbha in the last Ranji Trophy season, and scored 863 runs at an average of 53.The Indian team will visit England in August 2025, where Team will play five Test matches on iconic plains like India Headingley, Edgbaston, Lords, Old Trafford and The Oval.
Talking about new faces in the team, left -handed opener Sai Sudarshan and left arm pacer Arshdeep Singh have been included in the Test team for the first time.
Prior to the series, India will play three matches against the ‘A’ team England Lions, which will start from May 30 in Canterbury. Abhimanyu Ishwaran has been made the captain for these matches, while Dhruv will be the vice -captain. Gill and Sudarshan will join the ‘A’ team before the second match, so that they can get the experience of England’s circumstances.
