Sameer Rizvi’s Resilient Knock Secures 6-Wicket Victory for Delhi Against Punjab Kings

Sameer Rizvi’s solid knock has helped the Delhi Capitals to secure a six-wicket victory in the IPL 2025 game against Punjab Kings on May 24 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

After Karun Nair’s dismissal, Sameer Rizvi took charge of the 207-run chase in saturday’s clash.  He went on to score an unbeaten 58 runs, helping the side march towards victory.

With Delhi Capitals securing victory, Punjab Kings have to win their last league stage match against Mumbai Indians to finish top two spot in the IPL 2025 points table.

Batting first, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings while Mukesh Kumar opened the bowling attack. Mustafizur Rahman provided the first breakthrough, dismissing dangerous Priyansh Arya for 6 runs.

However, Josh Inglis joined Prabhsimran Singh and scored 32 runs in 12 deliveries, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes.

But Inglis lost his wicket to Vipraj Nigam in the 6th over, and Punjab Kings went to finish their powerplay 60/2.

With Prabhsimran Singh scored 28 runs, Nehal Wadhera lost his wicket for 16 runs to Mukesh Kumar.

On the other hand, Shashank Singh lost his wicket to Mustafizur which led Punjab Kings tattering with 144 runs for five wickets. Meanwhile Shreyas Iyer went on to smash fifty before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav.

With Azmatullah Omarzai, and Marco Jansen went on to lose their wickets cheaply to Kuldeep and Mustafizur respectively, Marcus Stoinis went on aggressive mode scoring 44 runs off 16 deliveries which included 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Marcus Stoinis along with Harpreet Brar remained unbeaten helping PBKS to post 206 run total in their 20 over innings.

Mustafizur Rahman made a three wicket haul while Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets each and Mukesh ended his spell with one dismissal.

In the pursuit of chasing 207 runs, KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis opened the innings for Delhi while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack.

After some varied range of shots, KL Rahul lost his wicket to Marco Jansen for 35 runs. Along with Karun Nair, Faf du Plessis helped the side to score 61 runs in the powerplay.

However, du Plessis lost his wicket for 23 runs to Harpreet Brar while Sediqullah Atal lost his wicket for 22 runs to Praveen Dubey.

However, Karun Nair and Sameer Rizvi are aiming to build the innings after Delhi Capitals losing three wickets. Karun Nair went on to score 44 runs off 27 deliveries before being dismissed by Harpreet Brar in the 15th over.

Tristan Stubbs joined Rizvi to complete the run chase as the duo remained unbeaten 18 and 58 at Jaipur.

Harpreet Brar went on to bag two wickets while Marco Jansen and Praveen Dubey had one wickets each on Saturday’s clash.
