Former India player Irfan Pathan recently compared an Indian spinner to Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan star is the best spinner in T20 cricket. Rashid is playing for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024. He has an impressive track record in the cash-rich league. The Afghan ace was with Sunrisers Hyderabad for years, but due to a nasty relationship with the management and the owners, he was not retained for IPL 2022.
Gujarat bought him for INR 15 crore, and he played a key role in the title-winning campaign in 2022. The Titans made it to the final in 2023, with Rashid among the top wicket-takers again.
Meanwhile, Pathan thinks Yuzvendra Chahal is like Rashid. Chahal has completed 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League and is the first bowler to script the milestone.
He took Mohammad Nabi’s wicket to complete a double hundred of wickets in the best T20 league in the world.
“Yuzvendra Chahal is right up there with Rashid Khan. They are the best in T20 cricket and have won games for their sides. Yuzi is the legend of the Indian Premier League. He doesn’t allow batters to dominate him and continues to thrive for Rajasthan Royals. He won the Purple Cap in the first season with Rajasthan in 2022,” Irfan Pathan said.
Yuzvendra played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru for years, but surprisingly, the team did not retain him in 2022. They tried to get him in the auction, but Rajasthan, with a better purse, got their main target, and the rest is history.
