The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has officially confirmed that former Gujarat captain Priyank Panchal has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
Recently, a lot of domestic and International Indian cricketers have announced their retirement. Panchal becomes one of them after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their test retirement.
The 35-year-old Panchal has an extensive career, having played 127 first-class matches, scoring 8,856 runs at an average of 45.18 with the help of 29 centuries and 34-half half-centuries.
The opener has played 97 List A matches, scoring 3672 runs at an average of 40.80 with eight centuries and 21 fifties. He also scored 1522 runs in 59 T20 matches at an average of 28.71 with nine half-centuries.
Taking to the media, Panchal announced his retirement thanking his family and shared his emotions.
The GCA secretary, Anil Patel, stated, “The Gujarat Cricket Association congratulates Mr. Priyank Panchal on a fantastic career. The batter has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on Sunday, May 26, 2025.”
Priyank Panchal has captained India A and has also represented Gujarat in the domestic circuit for over 17 years.
He said, “A right-handed batsman, Priyank also represented India A as captain. He has been profilic run-scorer as an opener representing Gujarat Cricket Association in domest cricket for over 17 years.”
Panchal’s stellar season comes from Ranji Trophy 2016-17 scoring 1310 runs with a highest individual score of 314 not out.
In the same season, Gujarat won the Ranji Trophy and was also part of the Gujarat team which won Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015-16 and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2012-13 and 2013-14 titles.
