Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer lauded his teammates for their performances throughout the Indian Premier League 2025. He commented after PBKS defeated Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets to confirm their top-two finish in the 18th season. Chasing 185 runs, Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya hit fifties to complete the task in 18.3 overs.

Iyer also played an important knock in the end. Arya amassed 62 runs off 35 balls, with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes. Inglis, who was declared the Player of the Match, accumulated 73 runs off 42 deliveries, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. Iyer remained not out on 26 runs off 16 deliveries, packed with 2 sixes and 1 four.

“Every individual stepped up when needed. We are aiming to win from Day 1 of the tournament. Kudos to the players, support staff and team management. Ricky (Ponting) has been fantastic with everyone. It is important to talk to every player. It is easy to back-stab and talk bad things about each other during challenging times. But we trusted each other,” Shreyas Iyer said.

Iyer lauded the Aussie batter. “Inglis loves to play the new balls. We wanted him to face a lot of deliveries. He is the only player who doesn’t have a fixed batting slot. He is a match-winner,” he added.
