Virat Kohli: In the 17th season of the Indian Premier League, a match was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, in which Kolkata won by just 1 run. During this match, the wicket of Virat Kohli was quite controversial. He was declared out on a waist high full toss ball.
The ground umpire and third umpire have given their reasons regarding this decision, while Virat Kohli has his own reasons. In such a situation, the cricket world is divided into two factions and all the greats are giving their opinion on this matter. In this sequence, former Team India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has also given a big statement.
Mohammad Kaif gave a big statement
While sharing a video on social media, Mohammad Kaif said that the way Virat Kohli was declared out was a very poor decision. They said,
“You can get a batsman out 10 ways with one ball. If you bowl six balls, you have 60 chances. If you open the pages of the rules, you will see 10 methods. However, Virat Kohli got out on the beamer, which is a very poor move. How will you control a ball that is higher than your waist? This kind of ball is not allowed in cricket.”
Kaif further said, “The ball was left from Harshit Rana's hand, which accidentally reached his waist. It should have been a no ball and the bowler should have apologized that he missed the ball. But there Virat Kohli was given out. This was a very poor decision. No batsman is prepared for such a ball. It was a very poor decision.”
Virat Kohli got out like this
Actually, Harshit Rana bowled a full toss to Virat Kohli, the first ball of the third over of the innings, which at first glance appeared to be higher than the waist. Virat also tried to stop it considering it a no ball, but the ball hit his bat and went up in the air and Harshit caught it and appealed for the wicket.
The ground umpire referred the decision to the third umpire, where with the help of replays and graphics it was revealed that Kohli was far ahead of the crease while playing the shot. In such a situation he was given out. Virat himself also did not seem happy with this decision and while returning to the pavilion, he scolded the umpire. However, BCCI took action against Virat's actions and fined him 50 percent of his match fee.
