IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets

New Delhi. In the 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 9 wickets. This is RR’s 7th win this season, while MI has got its 5th defeat this season. Batting first in the match, MI scored 179 runs losing 9 wickets. In reply, RR achieved the target by losing 1 wicket in 18.4 overs.

MI won the toss and decided to bat first. His decision proved wrong and by 52 runs, 4 batsmen of the team had returned to the pavilion. Tilak Verma (65), Nehal Wadhera (49) took over MI’s innings and took the team’s score to 179 runs. Sandeep Sharma took 5 wickets for RR. In reply, RR got an easy victory with a brilliant century by Yashasvi Jaiswal (104*). This is the second century of his IPL career.

 

RR’s star bowler Yuzvendra Chahal made a big record in the IPL when he dismissed Mohammad Nabi (23). He has become the first bowler to take 200 wickets in the biggest league of cricket. Chahal completed 200 wickets in his 153rd IPL match. Sandeep bowled 4 overs and took 5 wickets while conceding only 18 runs. He has achieved this feat for the first time in his IPL career. His economy rate was only 4.50. He made Ishan Kishan (0), Suryakumar Yadav (10), Tilak Verma (65), Tim David (3) and Gerald Coetzee (0) his victims.

Tilak batted comfortably in the first innings and then scored runs freely. He made a partnership of 99 runs for the 5th wicket with Vadhera (49). He was out after scoring 65 runs in 45 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. This was the 5th half-century of his IPL career. He is the third youngest batsman to complete 1,000 runs in the league.

Yashasvi scored 104* runs in 60 balls. 9 fours and 7 sixes came from his bat. His strike rate was 173.33. This player made a partnership of 74 runs with Jos Buttler for the first wicket. After this he added 109* runs in 65 balls with Sanju Samson. Both of Yashasvi’s centuries in IPL have come against MI. Before this match, he had not scored a single score of 50+ this season.

RR fast bowler Trent Boult showed the way to the pavilion to Rohit Sharma (6) on the 5th ball of the first over. With this, he became the bowler taking the most wickets in the first over in IPL history.
