Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. However, the match has been delayed due to rain. The downpour started after the toss. It stopped for a while but again picked up as players were about to enter the field. MI and PBKS left their dugouts to head back to the dressing rooms.
Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal has returned to the Playing XI of Punjab. The champion spinner missed a few games due to an injury and his absence was felt by Iyer’s team. On the other hand, MI have added Reece Topley to the playing group as a replacement for injured Richard Gleeson.
If the match is called off due to rain, Punjab Kings will qualify for the final as they finished above Mumbai Indians in the points table. PBKS had topped the standings while MI were fourth after the league stage. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already booked their place in the finale. The mega match will be played on June 3.
According to latest news, the match will start at 8:25 pm. The rain has returned for the third time to extend the delay.
The cut-off time for a full 20-over game is 9:30 pm. If the game doesn’t start by then, we will start losing overs. It is raining heavily in Ahmedabad.
Rain has stopped and super sopper is out at the stadium. The match will start at 9:45 pm. There is no reduction in overs.
