Former India player Harbhajan Singh said that Jasprit Bumrah is above Wasim Akram. According to him, the legendary Pakistan pacer enjoyed favorable bowling conditions as compared to what Bumrah is getting. He commented during the Qualifier 2 between the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Aakash Chopra had labelled Jasprit’s right-arm version of Akram, but Bhajji didn’t agree.

“Jasprit Bumrah is above Wasim Akram. If he is allowed to get that kind of reverse swing, he will break the stumps. Wasim Akram had said that he worked a lot on the ball to get the reverse swing. If a team is 60/0 and Bumrah starts getting reverse swing, there is a possibility of the rivals getting bowled out for 121 in the innings,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.

“I am not taking any credit away from Wasim Akram. He was a great bowler but Bumrah doesn’t enjoy that kind of luxury now,” he added.

In 404 Tests, Wasim Akram took 414 wickets at an average of 23.62. The left-arm speedster claimed 502 scalps in 356 ODIs at an average of 23.52.

On the other hand, Bumrah has dismissed 205 batters in 45 Tests at an average of 19.40. His wicket tally is 149 in 89 one-day internationals at an average of 23.55. The right-arm pacer has been exceptional in T20Is, taking 89 wickets in 70 matches at an average of 17.74.
