Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their maiden trophy after a win against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 finals played on June 03 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Their strength and depth in the batting and bowling units have made them a formidable team. Recently, they dismantled Punjab Kings in qualifier 01 in a low-score encounter and claimed an 8-wicket victory, marching into the finals.
With a 17-year wait, RCB fans are buzzing with anticipation, louder and more hopeful than ever before. Despite having entered finals in 2009, 2011 and 2016.
With a balanced and red-hot form squad, RCB is set to face Punjab Kings once again in this season.
Batting first, RCB posted a total of 190 runs with Virat Kohli being the highest run scorer for the side in the finals. He posted 43 runs and decent combinations from middle order batters has helped the side to post the decent total in the scoreboard.
Chasing the target, Punjab Kings made a decent start but with the dismissal of the openers, they begun to lose wickets at regular interval. Shreyas Iyer who led the side to finals could shine much and with his dismissal, Bengaluru’s victory confirmed.
Despite contributions from Josh Inglis and Shashank Singh, Royal Challengers Bengaluru went on to secure a 6 run victory to clinch their Maiden IPL title. With the game slipped towards RCB, Virat Kohli was seen in tears as his 17 year IPL trophy drought has been ended.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru had an impressive display in the IPL 2025 season, having won 9 out of 14 games in the group stages and finishing in the top two spots in the IPL 2025 points table.
Despite a under par record in the home ground, they had an outstanding records in away matches. Virat Kohli has been consistent with bat while Hazlewood led the bowling attack being the leading run getter and wicket taker for the sides respectively.
They secured a dominating 8 wicket victory in the qualifier 01 of the season against Punjab Kings and become the first team to advance to the finals.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been one of the OG teams and have a huge fan base. Known for the loyal fans, the side has reached to the finals for four times.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru has went through finals in 2009, 2011 and 2016. Their stellar season comes from 2016 where the Bengaluru franchise has been considered favourites to win the tournament with Virat Kohli amassing record breaking 973 runs in the season, But they lost dramatically to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 runs.
