The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the list of Men’s Player of the Month Nominees for May 2025, which includes Brendon McMullen of Scotland, Milind Kumar of the USA and Muhammad Wasim of the UAE.
Both Brendon McMullen and Milind Kumar have been named in the nominees list for their impressive performance in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Additionally, the United Arab Emirates opener Muhammad Waseem makes it to the shortlist due to his exceptional batting form in both ODIs and T20Is.
The 25-year-old has made the cut after 233 runs and finished with 10 wickets in five ODIs. He made a string of fine performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, including two half-centuries against the UAE.
He also posted 101 runs off 88 deliveries and 4/55 against Netherlands has earned him a Player of the Match award.
The off spin all-rounder scored 201 runs in four ODIs at a strike rate of 116.86 and also picked nine wickets to be shortlisted for the award.
His impressive performance against 115 not out off just 67 deliveries against Canada in an Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 and has become a first player from the USA to score a fifty and take five wickets in same ODIs when he did against Oman.
Muhammad Waseem has showed his worth in both ODI and T20Is during this period. He made 169 runs in five ODIs playing as a middle order batter in Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 matches and was then named Player of the series with UAE defeating Bangladesh 2-1 in a T20I series in Sharjah.
The Nominees from either category are shortlisted based on their performance by the last day of the month. The Candidates are shortlisted and voted by the ICC Voting Academy and fans around the World.
The ICC Voting Academy consists of well-known journalists, former players, and ICC Hall of Fame members. They submit their votes by email which becomes 90% of the voting members.
The fans who are registered with ICC can also vote via the ICC website through icc-cricket.com/awards, which gives the remaining 10 percent. Winners will be announced every second Monday of the month.
