Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has reacted to the heartbreaking incident outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. Fans had gathered to welcome Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2025 winning squad but due to a stampede 11 people lost their lives. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital but the tragedy have put the organizers and state government under the scanner. The security personnel present on the spot couldn’t control the situation due to huge crowd and despite using mild force, the supporters continued to occupy the area.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the final to lift their maiden IPL trophy. They departed for Bengaluru on June and the players were given a warm welcome after reaching their destination. The Challengers went to hotel before meeting with the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
They were also felicitated by the state government for scripting a memorable win for the Bengaluru-based franchise.
Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan took to social media to pay condolences to departed souls.
“Fans are the heart of cricket and of our lives. The tragic loss of lives in today’s stampede in Bengaluru is deeply heartbreaking. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the families affected by this unimaginable tragedy,” Irfan Pathan wrote.
