The WTC Final 2025 began with the bowlers dominated at the historic ground of Lord’s. The Australian batting in front of South African bowling was shattered and then in response, the top order of South Africa was also seen faltering. The bowlers were clearly dominated on the first day and at the end of the first day, South Africa is 169 runs behind Australia.
Batting first after losing the toss, Australia’s team was reduced to just 212 runs. Apart from Steve Smith (66) and Bu Webster (72), no batsman could stand on the wicket. Kagiso Rabada bowled deadly 5 wickets and became only the second bowler to take five wickets in the WTC final. Marco Jenson destroyed Australia’s innings with 3 and Northern with 2 wickets. Australia’s last five wickets fell within just 20 runs.
When South Africa started batting, the Australian fast bowlers retained their rhythm and gave them initial shocks. By the end of the day’s play, South Africa had scored 43 runs for 4 wickets. Aidan Marrakash, Vian Mulder, Triston Stabs and Ryan Recelton returned to the pavilion cheaply. Now the responsibility will be on captain Bawuma and lower order batsmen.
The first day of the World Test Championship of the World Test Championship 2025 was named after the bowlers where a total of 14 wickets fell on the first day. Australia lost 10 wickets in the first innings, while South Africa also lost 4 wickets. On the second day also, the bowlers are expected to get help on this ground, due to which the batsmen will need to bat very thoughtfully.
