Sanjay Bangar has preferred new choices for No.3 for the Men in Blues during the test series of the India tour of England 2025, which begins next week.

Bangar feels that it will be a toss-up between the two debutants, Sai Sudharsan and Abhimanyu Easwaran, for the spot in the series.

The Men in Blues had batting practice sessions on June 08 and 09, which gave away a few cues about how the batting order could be for the England series.

However, a lot of attention was given to Sai Sudharsan while the new India test captain, Shubman Gill went up against Jasprit Bumrah during practice sessions.

During the fourth day of practice when the entire squad was available, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal went up in the nets followed by Karun Nair and Gill. The third net was occupied by Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel.

This gives a hint of what the top 6 for the first test. However, Sanjay Bangar feels that neither Gill nor Karun will bat at No. 3. He also added that Shubman Gill will be batting at No.4.

“I think none of them in my book (Gill or Karun at No. 3?). If at all Karun is playing, he would bat slightly lower down the order. All indications are that Shubman Gill may bat at No. 4.”

“So the toss up at No. 3 is going to be between Sai Sudharsan and Abhimanyu Easwaran. Easwaran also got a good score in one of the practice matches they played.”

Bangar also said that Rishabh Pant will bat at No.5 with Karun coming at No.6, while one of Sudharsan or Easwaran will come in at No.3.

“I don’t think there is going to be any difference there. One of those two will play at No. 3. No. 4 will be Shubman Gill and No 5 will be Rishabh Pant and No. 6 would be Karun Nair. That’s my understanding of the situation,” said Sanjay Bangar.

The first test between England-India test series will begin on June 20 and 24 at Headingley.
