The World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final is currently getting played at the Lord's in London, wherein South Africa are taking on defending champions Australia for the coveted title.

After two days of pulsating action, a whopping 28 wickets have fallen in the contest, but Australia have a commanding lead by 218 runs over South Africa, and they will be looking to extend it on day three of the WTC 2023-25 final at the Home of Cricket.

Following the first innings of Australia, which was bowled out for 212 runs on day one, South Africa batted quite well in the first session on day two, losing just one wicket, to find themselves in a good position to overhaul the first innings runs.

But, the Australian pacers came firing in the second session on day two, especially with their captain Pat Cummins, who took a six-wicket haul and went past 300 Test wickets, to help bowl South Africa out for just 138 runs in their first innings.

In response, Australia got a decent opening stand of 28 runs in their second innings in tough conditions before wickets fell in a heap, finding themselves 73/7 at one stage in the third session. It led to a 71-run stand for the eighth wicket between Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc, which not only brought Australia back into the contest, but allowed them to take their lead past 200 runs, putting them in a strong position to retain their WTC title.
