Star India batter Virat Kohli's seven-year-old Tweet for South Africa batter Aiden Markram has been going viral on social media after the latter's magnificent hundred in the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025 against Australia.

Markram etched his name in the history books with his sensational innings as he became the first batter from his country to score a hundred in the final of an ICC event.

at the end of Day 3 of the final and has brought South Africa on the verge of a historic win. Following his marvellous knock, an old post from Virat Kohli in appreciation of the Proteas batter has been going viral on social media.

Back in March 2018, Kohli had praised the South Africa star for his innings of 84 against Australia, during the infamous third Test at Newlands, Cape Town. The former India captain had extolled Markram, who was a rising star for South Africa at the time, and said that he was a delight to watch.

"Aiden Markram is a delight to watch!," Kohli had posted on his X account on 24th March 2018.

Meanwhile, Markram's innings has brought South Africa on the verge of a historic triumph as they require just 69 more runs to win the WTC Final 2025.

Markram along with captain Temba Bavuma (65*) has brought his team into ascendancy courtesy of their massive 143-run stand for the third wicket. The duo got together at the crease on 70/2 and batted with great intent, whittling away the target run by run. As a result, South Africa find themselves on the cusp of ending their 27-year-long ICC title drought with their only major trophy win coming way back in 1998.

Hence, both Makram and Bavuma will be eager to continue their massive stand on Day 4 and take their team over the line to register an unprecedented win for the Proteas.
