South Africa’s dressing room was tense before the team clinched a five-wicket win over Australia in the World Test Championship Final on June 14. The batters completed the chase in the first session of Day 4 with five wickets in hand at Lord’s. Marco Jansen, the all-rounder, enjoyed his team’s success and opened up on the nervy moments.

Although Temba Bavuma was dismissed after scoring 66 runs, Aiden Markram’s 136 took his team close to the target. David Bedingham (21) and Kyle Verreynne remained unbeaten. Jansen took four wickets in the contest, with the likes of Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, and Nathan Lyon failing to survive in front of him in the first innings. In the second essay, he again got rid of Labuschagne.

“I was praying in the dressing room. It is good that we got the job done. There were a lot of nerves. A lot of guys were sitting silently,” he said.

The left-arm speedster heaped massive praise on Markram. “You can’t ask for more. Aiden Markram was superb for us, and he played an unbelievable knock. Dreams are mentioned to be achieved,” he added.
