In the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 in the USA, West Indies’ seasoned all-rounder Kieron Pollard has achieved a significant milestone.
He has moved to fourth place in the list of highest run-scorers in T20 cricket history, surpassing India’s star batter Virat Kohli.
Pollard, who is representing MI New York this season, scored 32 runs off just 16 balls in their opening match against the Texas Super Kings. With that knock, his overall T20 run tally reached 13,569 runs in 696 matches, edging past Kohli’s 13,543 runs in 414 matches.
Chris Gayle – 14,562 runs (463 matches)
Alex Hales – 13,704 runs (497 matches)
Shoaib Malik – 13,571 runs (557 matches)
Kieron Pollard – 13,569 runs (696 matches)
Virat Kohli – 13,543 runs (414 matches)
Pollard now stands just 3 runs behind Shoaib Malik and could move into the third position in his next match.
Pollard’s long-standing participation in multiple T20 leagues across the world has given him the platform to consistently score and stay active. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, having retired from T20 internationals, now only plays in the IPL.
This achievement underlines the importance of longevity and consistency in the T20 format, proving that players can make history through performances across global leagues, regardless of international appearances.
Virat Kohli and Kieron Pollard have carved unique legacies in T20 cricket.
Kohli, known for his classical technique and consistency, has amassed over 13,500 runs in just 414 matches, largely playing for India and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
He holds one of the best averages among T20 batters. On the other hand, Pollard, a globe-trotting all-rounder, recently overtook Kohli in total T20 runs, reaching 13,569 runs in 696 matches.
His explosive hitting and finishing abilities have made him a mainstay in franchise leagues worldwide. While Kohli has now stepped away from international T20s, Pollard continues to thrive across global leagues.
