Delhi: New Zealand star all -rounder Sophie Divine will retire from ODI cricket after the 13th Women’s ODI World Cup to be held in India this year. Divine, who is going to be 36 years old in September, left the captaincy of T20 format after winning New Zealand for the first time in the T20 World Cup last year.

Sophie Divine said, “It takes the right time for me when I start slowly away from the game. I am glad that New Zealand Cricket (NZC) supported me in this decision and we came to the conclusion that I can still contribute to White Ferns.

It is important to know that I will play with full commitment and dedication.”

Divine further said, “I am very excited from the direction of this young team and I am eager to play my role in the coming six to nine months. I have taken this decision thoughtfully and time.”

Divine is among the nine women players who have played more than 150 ODIs. He is close to 4000 runs in ODIs and has captained New Zealand in 49 matches.

Significantly, Divine will definitely try to do something special for New Zealand in her last ODI World Cup and would like to make her farewell memorable.
