Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has moved up to the top spot in ICC ODI Batting rankings for the first time since 2019, surpassing Laura Wolvaardt in the latest update.
Mandhana now has 727 rating points, while Nat Sciver-Brunt and Wolvaardt are in joint-second place, having 717 rating points.
Meanwhile, Tazmin Brits advanced five places to 27th position after her impressive half century in the first match of the South Africa Women’s tour of the West Indies.
Meanwhile, former captain Sune Luus have struck 76 in the second match to gain seven places to 42nd match while Rose has seven slots to 42nd in the bowlers list.
Qiana Joseph’s innings of 60 in their first match saw her jump 12 slots to 67th place. Spinners, Afy Fletcher and Nonkululeko Mlaba, made the most significant gains in the bowler list, progressing four and six places respectively to 19th and 23rd place after they both took four wickets in the second match.
While Mandhana has sat inside the top 10 on the list for ODI batters in recent times, the left hander hasn’t held the premier position since the start of 2019 as a drought of more than six years comes to an end.
Smriti Mandhana is also ranked fourth in the list of batter in T20Is. It was Mandhana’s 11th ODI century of her career and contributed to the left-hander improving her rating past Wolvaardt, who managed scores of 27 and 28 in South Africa’s recent ODI contests against West Indies.
Deepti Sharma has maintained her No.4 spot in Women’s ODI Bowler rankings. England’s Sophie Ecclestone remains the No.1 ODI bowler, with Australian pair Ash Gardner and Megan Schutt placed second and third respectively.
Smriti Mandhana has been named in the India squad for the ODI and T20I series for the upcoming tour against England which is set to begin on June 28 at Trent Bridge.
