Hayley Matthews to Miss WBBL11 Due to Shoulder Surgery

The Melbourne Renegades all-rounder Hayley Matthews will be missing the Women’s Big Bash League 2025-26 season due to shoulder injury.

Matthews who joined the club ahead of WBBL Overseas Player Draft sustained an injury during recently concluded ODI series against South Africa.

The top ranked T20I all-rounder has been forced to pull out and is set to have surgery on the shoulder. However, she will be fulfillinf her national commitments, including including captaining the West Indies and appearing for her Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League, before undergoing surgery later this year.

“We are clearly disappointed Hayley won’t be with us this season. She’s been instrumental during her time with the Renegades, not just with her performances but with her leadership and professionalism,” said Renegades general manager James Rosengarten.

“There’s a very close relationship between the Renegades and Hayley and we know it will continue next year and beyond. Hayley loves this club and we share in her disappointment at not being available for this year’s tournament,” concluded James Rosengarten.

Melbourne Renegades have to fill all three Overseas spot at WBBL draft on June 19. Hayley Matthews played a significant role in the WBBL as the Renegades lifted the maiden title.

Hayley Matthews was their leading run scorer with a tally of 324 runs at a strike rate of 130.64 and was also the second highest wicket taker picking 14 dismissals, while leaking less than seven runs an over.

She also has a profilic career in the international cricket, the Barbadian Cricketer has scored 3074 and 2828 runs from 99 ODIs and 109 T20Is respectively. She also has picked 125 and 11 wickets in the two formats respectively.
