SL vs BAN 1st Test Highlights
Day 01
- Batting first, Sri Lnaka went on to score only 90 runs for three wickets before lunch.
- However, Bangladesh went on to revive after Najmul Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim’s centuries helping Sri Lanka to post 292 runs.
Day 02
- Najmul and Mushfiqur went on to resume the game on day 02 where Shanto lost his wicket to Asitha Fernando.
- However, Litton Das joined Mushfiqur Rahim to further haunt Sri Lanka bowlers. Litton went on to score 90 runs helping the side to cross 400 run mark.
- Meanwhile, Rahim lost his wicket for 163 runs to Asitha Fernando while Bangladesh went on to score 484/9 by the end of day 02.
Day 03
- Resuming the game on day 03, Bangladesh went on to score 495 runs in their innings. Starting their innings Sri Lanka’s opener pathum Nissanka went on to bat steadily while others top order batters played cameo scoring decent runs.
- Nissanka’s stellar knock has helped the side to cross 300 run mark with Nissanka scoring 187 runs before being dismissed by Mahmud. By the end of day 03, Sri Lanka scored 368/4 with Mendis and de Silva at crease.
Day 04
- Resuming their innings, Sri Lanka went on to cross 400 run mark. They went on to score 485 runs in their first innings trailing the game by 10 runs. Bangladesh started their second innings, where Shadman Islam went on to score 76 runs.
- Meanwhile, Najmul went on to score 50* and by the end of day 04, Bangladesh went on to score 177 runs with Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim at crease.
- Resuming the game on day 02, Najmul Hossain Shanto went on to score his second hundred in the test.
Day 05
- After scoring 285 runs, Bangladesh declared their innings with Shanto remained unbeaten with 125 runs.
- Trailing the innings by 295 runs, Sri Lanka begun their second innings and scored 72 runs for 4 by the end of day 05 resulting in draw.

Player of the Match
Najmul Hossain Shanto | Bangladesh
I didn’t know that (first Bangladeshi captain to hit two hundreds in the same Test), but feels very good to contribute for the team, so really happy. Great comeback after losing three wickets. The way Mushi bhai batted with me, it was brilliant.
Before the series, we didn’t have enough confidence. We had great preparation for this series and we showed a lot of character in this match. (Planning on declaring early?) Yes, but the rain suddenly came and the plan suddenly changed.
We can’t control those things. After we declared, the way Taijul and Nayeem bowled, really happy. In these conditions, the way Nayeem bowled in the first innings was brilliant. He didn’t have enough chances to play because of the combination but his work ethic is brilliant and he showed today how good he is.
