West Indies head coach Darren Sammy has expressed his concerns about Adrian Holdstock’s officiating decisions to match referee Javagal Srinath which is similar question he raised during the series against England.

The Caribbean are slated to play three match test series in Australia tour of West Indies 2025 and with the first test is online, Sammy expressed doubts over the decisions made by on-field umpire Adrian Holdstock on Day 02 of the first test at Bridgetown.

This was due to two major incidents going both against the hosts – The first contentious moment was the dismissal of Roston Chase who was given lbw on Pat Cummins delivery.

The Australian captain delivered a ball that nipped back into the right-hander and struck him on the pads which is viewed as out. Roston reviewed the decision, and the point of concern was the ultra-edge replay, which showed small, closley spaced spikes, raising questions about a possible inside edge.

The second incident involved the dismissal of Shai Hope, who scored 48 runs. Hope got an inside edge off Beau Webster’s delivery with Alex Carey going for a catch behind the stumps, but seemed to have the ball in contact with the ground during the attempt.

Despite being referred to the third umpire, the on-field decision was upheld. West Indies are looking for a win in the home soil since 2003. Their last victory against Australia comes from May 09, 2003 at St John’s Antigua.

Speaking after the game on day 02, Darren Sammy expressed his reservations about umpire Adrian Holdstock and called for greater consistency from the match officials.

“We are just trying to find some sort of understanding as to what the process is. We only hope for consistency. That’s all we could ask for. When there is doubt in something, just be consistent across the board,” said Darren Sammy to the media.

“I have noticed, especially with this particular umpire, it’s something that, for me, started in England. It’s frustrating. I just ask for consistency in the decision-making,” Darren sammy added.

Australia scored 92/4 and lead by 82 runs with Travis Head and Beau Webster at crease by the end of day 02 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown.
