The buzz surrounding Sanju Samson’s potential move to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has gained momentum, with reliable sources confirming that the interest extends beyond mere speculation. What began as social media chatter has now evolved into a topic of serious discussion within IPL circles. As teams begin to shape their strategies for the 2026 season, this might a bold step CSK to correct the shortcomings for the challenge.

CSK shows interest in Sanju Samson awaits clarity on potential trade deal

A senior CSK official confirmed to Cricbuzz that the franchise is definitely considering Samson, highlighting his value as an Indian batter who can keep wickets and open the innings. The official stated that if Samson becomes available, CSK would certainly explore the option of bringing him into their setup. However, no decision has been made yet on who they would offer in a trade, as discussions have not reached that stage. The official added that, in principle, the franchise is interested in acquiring Samson.

“We are definitely looking at Sanju. He is an Indian batter, who is a keeper and an opener. So if he is available, we will certainly have a look at the option of having him in our fold. Who we will trade him with we have not taken that call because the matter has not gone that far. But yes, in principle, we are interested,” said a senior CSK official on Samson.

Rajasthan Royals review trade interest in key players

Meanwhile, the report further added that Rajasthan Royals (RR) management recently held a review meeting in London to assess their IPL 2025 campaign, with newly appointed head coach Rahul Dravid also in attendance. During the discussions, the franchise reportedly reviewed trade inquiries from multiple teams for various players — not limited to captain Sanju Samson.

With Samson and Dhruv jurel both capable of keeping wickets and batting in the top six, the Royals are aware of the premium value they hold in their squad. However, a trade involving Samson appears unlikely in the immediate future. Should a deal take place, it would require a player of equal stature and value in return. Ultimately, the final decision depends on RR lead owner Manoj badalewho has yet to respond publicly.
