Team India is currently touring England for a five-match Test series under the leadership of Shubman Gill. While the team lost the opening match, the second Test at Edgbaston is currently underway, and India appears to be in solid form.

Shami Tagged as Team India’s ‘Jija’

Before departing for the England tour, Gambhir and the trio of players filmed an episode for Kapil Sharma’s show.

In a light-hearted promo released ahead of the full episode, Kapil playfully asks who the “jija” (brother-in-law) of the team is—the one who always complains.

Without missing a beat, both Pant and Chahal name Mohammed Shami. Gautam Gambhir adds humor to the moment by saying, “Our jija hasn’t come home in two years,” leaving everyone in splits.

Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has been away from the Test squad for a while due to a persistent injury. He last played a Test match in 2023 against Australia, where he claimed four wickets. Unfortunately, his underwhelming performance in IPL 2025 didn’t help his case for selection on the England tour, keeping him out of the squad.

In the same promo, Kapil teases the guests further by asking who’s like the “bhabhi” (sister-in-law) in Team India—the one who gossips the most. Abhishek Sharma cheekily dodges the question, saying he’s too new to comment. Rishabh Pant then quips, “You are asking me to share all the gossips,” triggering laughter on the set.
