The England captain, Ben Stokes, fumed with rage and was seen arguing with the on-field umpire on day 03 of the second test of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy after Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal took a late DRS call.

The situation escalated after Jaiswal was controversially allowed to review a decision despite appearing to exceed the 15-second DRS time limit.

He was adjudged LBW on the on-field umpire Sharfuddoula reffered the decision upstairs. This fueled an immediate reaction from Ben Stokes, who confronted the umpire to express his displeasure over the review being allowed.

Stokes argued that the reviewed should not be allowed, but following a short dicussion, the umpires gone with Jaiswal’s request.

However, the review did not work in Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s favor. The Ball tracking confirmed all three reds, ending his innings at 28 off 22 deliveries. While England celebrated the breakthrough, the home crowd reacted with boos was disappointed over the sequence of events.

Earlier starting the second innings, India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal reached a milestone of joint fastest Indian to score 2000 Test runs. He achieved the feat in 40th innings equalling Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag.

The incident happened when an outside edge off Brydon Carse flew past the slip cordon for a boundary.

Before the second innings, Mohammed Siraj’s six-wicket haul kept the visitors ahead in the second test after attacks from Jamie Smith and Harry Brook. Siraj picked two wickets before Jamie Smith and Harry Brook posted a 300+ runs partnership.

Brook went on to score 158 runs off 234 deliveries while Jamie Smith scored 184* runs off 207 deliveries to make 303 run partnership.

After Harry Brook‘s fall, England slumped from 387/5 to 407 all out, as the second new ball did the trick for India, who picked up the remaining five wickets in 7.2 overs. England had suffered six ducks in their first innings which is first time any team had scored past 400 runs in Tests.
