Delhi: In the second match of the five matches of Test series, India defeated England by 336 runs and registered their first win in the new cycle (2025–27) of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). With this bang winning, India also achieved 1-1 equal in the series. This is Team India’s first win in Test in Birmingham.

England’s second innings limited to 271 runs

Batting first, India scored 587 runs in the first innings and took a significant lead of 180 runs, covering England for 407 runs. Thanks to Shubman Gill’s brilliant century in the second innings, India declared the innings for 6 wickets and set a huge target of 608 runs in front of England. In response, England’s second innings was reduced to 271 runs and India won the match by 336 runs.

Akash Deep’s best performance of career

Fast bowler Akash Deep took 6 wickets in the second innings while performing tremendously in the match. He also took 4 wickets in the first innings. The game delayed the fifth day due to rain, but in the initial overs, Akash gave England two big shocks. After this, captain Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith shared a 70 -run partnership for the sixth wicket which was broken by Washington Sundar. After lunch, India took the remaining four wickets and finished the match.

The third match of the five -Test series between India and England will now be played at Lord’s Cricket Ground from July 10.
