MI New York and Washington Freedom faced off in the final of Major League Cricket 2025 at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas, on July 14. MI New York batted first after losing the toss. In a closely fought match, MI New York triumphed by 5 runs.
The opening partnership between Monank Patel and Quinton de Kock gave MI New York a strong start. Patel contributed 28 runs off 22 balls, while de Kock managed a dominating 77 runs from 46 balls. Tajinder Singh added 14 runs in a brief cameo, and captain Nicholas Pooran chipped in with 21 runs, guiding the team to a total of 180 runs in their innings.
Washington Freedom’s pacer Lockie Ferguson registered a three-wicket haul. Saurabh Netravalkar, Glenn Maxwell, Jack Edwards, and Ian Holland claimed a wicket each.
Washington Freedom lost both openers cheaply in their run chase. Mitchell Owen was dismissed for a golden duck, and Andries Gous also failed to open his account. Rachin Ravindra played an important innings, contributing 70 runs off 41 balls, keeping Freedom’s hopes alive in the match. Glenn Phillips also contributed with a steady 48* runs from 34 balls.
