Former English player David Lloyd said that India should field Bumrah in the fourth Test, as the series is on the line.
India have lost two Test matches while winning in Leeds against England. Jasprit Bumrah, who arrived in England to play three Tests, has already been a part of two matches. He was rested from the second Test, which was won by the visiting team. There is a suspense over his availability for the next contest at Old Trafford. The Indian team management hasn’t revealed anything, and captain Shubman Gill didn’t confirm his participation after losing the Lord’s game.
Meanwhile, former English player David Lloyd said that India should field Bumrah in the fourth Test, as the series is on the line.
“Their coach Gautam Gambhir said that he will play three Tests. He has already played two games. He should play in the next,t and if the scoreline becomes 2-2, you would want him to be a part of the last game as well. I think he will play the next Test. If England take a lead by 3-1, he won’t play. But if it is 2-2, he will play at the Oval,” he told TalkSport Cricket.
When the anchor reminded him that India’s only win came in Bumrah’s absence. David Lloyd mentioned that the team’s win rate is better without Bumrah.
“When Bumrah plays, India lose more matches. That is something extraordinary. He is like the best bowler in the world. He is a decent fellow,’ he added.
Bumrah has played 47 Tests for India, and the team has a 20-23 win-loss record. However, India lost five out of 27 Test matches when Bumrah didn’t play since his debut in 2018. India won 19 games, and three ended in a draw.
