Delhi: West Indies well-known all-rounder Andre Russell has decided to retire from international cricket. He has been included in the team for the five-match T20 series against Australia. But, he will play only in the first two matches.

According to ESPN Cricinfo report, Russell will retire from international cricket after playing the second T20 match of the series. The match will be played on 23 July at the Sabina Park Stadium in Jamaica. Jamaica Russell also has a home ground, so he will play the last international match on his home ground.

West Indies shock before T20 World Cup

Russell’s decision is being considered a big shock for the West Indies team. Next year, India and Sri Lanka have to have a T20 World Cup. In such a situation, the departure of an experienced player like Russell is a matter of concern for the team.

Shortly before, Nicholas Puran also retired from international cricket. Both Russell and Puran have been the star T20 players of West Indies. Russell was also part of the West Indies team of 2012 and 2016 World Cup winners.
