Australia have officially announced their playing XI for the first T20I against West Indiesset to be played at Sabina Park in Jamaica. With several key players rested, the visitors have opted for a fresh-looking squad that includes young talents and fringe players, marking the beginning of their five-match campaign in the Caribbean.
All-rounder Mitchell Owen is all set to make his T20I debut, while Jake Fraser-McGurkwho has been brought in as a replacement for injured pacer Spencer Johnsonalso finds a spot in the starting eleven. Fraser-McGurk’s inclusion further reflects the selectors’ intent to test the next generation of Australian cricketers.
In a setback for Australia, Matthew Short has been ruled out of the series due to a minor side strain sustained during a training session. As a result, he has been sent back home and will play no part in the tour.
